No more free tiers on Heroku

On August 25, 2022, Heroku announced it's next chapter, and in that blog post it stated it will no longer offer free tiers. This is a different take on developer tooling than what's been seen previously, but I recommend reading this twitter thread by Gergely Orosz (@GergelyOrosz)

Vapor is a backend web framework written in Swift. I've been playing around a bit more with it, and I think it's opened my eyes to the backend world a bit more. I highly recommend looking into it if you are an iOS developer.

Firebase emulators brings firebase to your computer locally. If you're using Firebase in an app, then I think you should really look into how to add Firebase Emulators into your development environment.

Emulators allow for you to prototype and debug data structures without affecting your production data, and this is amazing.

GitHub Actions

If you haven't checked out GitHub Actions, I think now is your time. It's a powerful CI/CD tool that allows 2,000 build minutes fro freee each month on private repos. I'll be publishing a new blog post about how to use it with Danger very soon, but before then I suggest learning a bit more about it.
